The Desert Laboratory on Tumamoc Hill is forming a new Research Advisory Committee (RAC) to increase and improve research at the Desert Laboratory. We are looking for members representing a wide diversity of units and perspectives across the University of Arizona campus. Members would serve for 2–3 year terms and be expected to meet at most once a month.
We welcome nominations for members, including self-nominations. Self-nominations should include a brief (ca. one paragraph) description of interests in serving. Please email the new Chair of the RAC, Deborah Goldberg (degold@arizona.edu), with your suggestions or any questions. We hope to complete the committee by the end of May 2022.
Ideal members would have a good understanding of University research environments and potential avenues of both internal and external support, be highly active in their units, and have strong networks with University and external researchers whose research interests could be a good fit for Tumamoc Hill.
A description of the roles of the Desert Lab RAC is below. We expect this initial description to evolve once the committee is formed and begins discussions. The initial focus will be development of a research strategy that builds on the 2020 Desert Lab Strategic Plan.
